Hi Family,
It's time to get organized for our reunion. So here's what I know so far.( I will be referring to families by the names of Virginia and Alvin's natural grandchildren)
Dates: August 9 - August 16
Arrivals: Steve and I are getting to Kiawah on the 8th. Jim, we will meet you at the airport with Chris's car at 5p.m. on the 9th.
Greg, meet us at the airport at 5p.m. - Jim will have our van for you to use
Joe, Jan will meet your plane - advise her of your flight info. Proceed to Kiawah. Key for your house will be under the mat.
Jan - Chris will be expecting you.
John and Julia, see you when you get there - will leave a set of keys for you John under the mat at our house. Julia, you have a set, correct?
Places to stay:
Jan, Nancy, Judy and Steve will be the guests of Chris Russell. Address is 128 Conifer Lane.
Randy and Greg and Families will be at 47 Eugenia Avenue Julia and
John and families will be at 100 Surfscoter Lane (our house)
Jim and Joe and families will be across the street on Surfscoter (will let you know house# later)
Housing assignments were done on ages and number of children.
John - if your family would use the two master bedrooms and Julia and Phil and kids will use Ann's room plus bunk room, then no one would have to move for 2nd week. Everyone else, your on your own to figure out who sleeps where. The house across the street has 2 bedrooms downstairs and one plus alcove up. House on Eugenia has 4 bedrooms with each bedroom having 2 double beds.
We have to furnish our own linens for house on Eugenia so John, Julia, and Jan and Nancy should bring linens and towels because you are driving. It doesn't matter what size - anything will do. Also gather up all your beach towels and bring them.
Meals:
Steve and I will be providing all dinners and dinner will be at the house on Eugenia. Everything will come from Costco and Iworrying worring about nutrition - no one will die of malnutrition in a week.
Here is the menu for the week. If you or your children don't like something, it will be up to you to provide a substitute.
Saturday: Pizza, salad, and Dove bars (Laurel, we will get a Stephen pizza)
Sunday: Ham, pasta salad, fruit salad, rolls, and cookies
Monday: Hot dogs, chips, vegetable platter, and apple pie
Tuesday: Roasted chicken, potato salad, rolls, green salad, and key lime pie
Wednesday: Hamburgers, chips, tomatoes and cottage cheese salad, and ice cream sandwiches
Thursday: SpagettiSpagetti, green salad, french bread, and cake with ice cream
Friday: Shrimp, corn, french bread, sliced tomatoes, and strawberry shortcake
We will also get popsicles, bottled water, and pop for everyone - e-mail your favorites. You are on your own for breakfast and lunch. Steve and I will get some cereal, bread, milk, orange juice, bagels, cream cheese, peanut butter and jelly, cheese and crackers to get you all started.
We will not be renting bikes so either bring them or rent them - we do have some people can use. We do have sand toys, kites, boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas so we should be fine in that department. I think we have enough beach towels for those who are flying. This is all I can think of for now.
Sorry if it sounds regimented but I've never entertained so many people before. Let me know if you have any questions and suggestions are welcome.
Steve and I are really excited about everyone coming. Oh, one more thing, I think we should have a family talent night (or skit night) and everyone has to participate. If you have no talent, tell a joke, read a poem, etc.(Tate, why don't you bring your violin - does anyone else play?) Steve and I will think up a skit. See you in Kiawah.
Love, Judy P.S. Julia, can you bring your pak-n-play?
